Under the Night Sky

Under the Night Sky

A Poem by TheSeaOfWoe
"

A poem concerning a strange, twisted story.

"

A pain in his heart.

A star in the sky.

A tear falling,

from a dead, soulless eye.

He did not know the pain he would cause.

He did not intend for this, because

he thought that things would be alright.

He thought he could take her out at night.

She and he, they were in love,

looking out at the stars above.

He did not see,

who took his love,

her life had been taken,

and she could not come back.

He had heard the knife cut through her skin and bone.

The loud cut and crack,

he had seen the blood running down her back.

He had heard her scream, he had heard her cry.

And again, it brought a tear to his eye.

Not long ago, she had died.

Why did she have to put up so much of a fight?

He loved her, didn’t she know?

She had told him to stop,

but he had not let go.

And now they had put him in this place.

“You killed her”, he had been told,

but those were lies. He just knew.

He just knew it!

They had to be!

He had seen her die!

After they had looked together,

up, into the sky...

“I could’ve have done it!” he cried and cried,

“I saw that b*****d kill her, it was not I!”

They had tried to tell him “It was the mirror you saw!”

“You killed her! Damn it all!”

One doctor had turned to the other. “This treatment is getting ridiculous.

You said it would work this time.”

The other doctor grew annoyed. “Well, I was wrong, all right?”

He...he simply could’ve believe it.

What kind of treatment?

And what did he mean, this time?

It didn’t make sense.

But yes, he now realized, he had snapped.

The straw had broken the camel’s back.

“I...I...” he tried to reply,

but he could find the words, he continued to cry.

“It does not matter though,” they told him,

“Her. Everything. It was all in your mind”.

He started to laugh,

but did not know why,

he pulled and pullled, but the straight jacket held.

The doctors had seen this before. His frantic attempts to rebel.

He slammed into the stone wall of his cell, raising hell.

“Release me!” he screamed. “Release me, you lie!

I must get back to her! I must see her again, under the night sky!”
