We Are Rome

We Are Rome

A Poem by TheSeaOfWoe
"

Take it for whatever you want.

"

We are Rome.

The walls begin to fall.

People run and scream, proclaiming “Damn it all!”

We should have known this would happen.

We lied to ourselves.

We shoved the truth to the back of the shelf.

We put tender lies in front of it, to hide what we knew.

But what’s done is done, that I can most certainly tell you.

We are Rome.

We convulse and crash.

We fall among the broken glass.

Our world is falling apart.

I’m not sure if we’ll ever get a fresh start.

The ashes rain down, as the fires roar.

The smoke billows in, more and more.

Our lungs fill with regret, along with the fear of the unknown.

We are Rome.

The walls have fell.

The city resembles the depths of hell, but we live on.

We are Rome.
