A Sinful Butterfly

A Sinful Butterfly

A Poem by SeaMaiden
"

My thoughts upon the idea that women are not allowed to fall in love.

"

Is happiness a sin?

A butterfly flies around the valley

mostly enjoying the tantalizing nectar.

I follow her hoping around with her

nearly forgetting I am not a kid anymore.

Lemonade is waiting for me

on the wooden summer table.

Very much I am going to enjoy

every drop of the bittersweet drink.

Won’t it be a crime

if I drink it without joy?

The lemonade drops are slipping

happily in my dry throat.

A sinful butterfly? A sinful woman?

Will you call a happy butterfly a sinner?

Of course not.

Lost in her beauty, her tiny colorful form

For no reason you will call her a sinner.

It's a pretty simple poem I wrote while listening to the news about a woman that was locked up by her parents because she wanted to marry a man that her parents didn't approve.

interesting analogy. I would think such things should be left ot circumstance. If her parents don't want her to marry a pychopath or convicted rapist, that's perfectly reasonable. But love knows no boundaries, and there comes a point when parents need to let go and let their children be who they want to be, love who they want to love. A great write and welcome to the site :)
