Estranged

Estranged

A Poem by Michelle N. H.

I walked towards that tree on the hill

Where I stepped on the leaves that

Had fallen to the ground

Making out

A carpet of brown and orange

Protecting the soil from winter

That had turned out bitter and cold

So cold my hands had become

Both dry and blue

I thought of you

As I reached the top of the hill

The view of the city

Had me divided

I was estranged

Once again

From the world I was born in

I'm not okay

It's as if something's missing

Or someone

Lacking a name

That's long been forgotten

Or merely

Hasn't been felt

By tongue

I turned around to

Ground myself and

I was absolute again

For a while

Nothing was wrong

By that tree on top of the hill

It was still...

I was home

Couldn't really quite figure this one. I maybe be back to savor some more and perhaps decipher the meaning of the piece. But right now everything is hidden in obscurity. Perhaps the muse is someone who happened to be born and raised in the country and somehow caught a glimpse of a city and all its dazzling lights and allure. For now this is all I could digest . All your piece are penned in enigmatic ways probing the mind of your reader to keep a keen look to what's your trying to convey.

Thank you ever so much, sharonlee :)
Another pearl, out of your great talented visions, and real life experiences... heavy sigh, this is so romantic, I had many of these lovely hikes, too, it seems, nature is a great muse, that lands on our hearts, your words are so soft and tender, the music just dances with them... (I love Fabrizio Paterlini) great choice! Just beautiful this poem is, a real snap-shot out so many feelings, well crafted Michelle.

I sense the same :)
Beautiful poetry. You have a maturity in your words and style. The music as well as the picture lull the reader into the feeling of the words with an easiness that compliments the poem.

Estrangements come in many forms and seasons and according to that we relate our thoughts with mother nature or disconnect from reality...A splendid poem....:)..........

Thank you, Kora. That's so sweet :)
It is these times when we gain the realization of what is real, and what is most important to us that we find the most peace! We struggle, ask questions and then come to the point of understanding of what life is about - the bad and the good of it when we come home! Home is always where we gain the most insight into the why of situations!!
Nice thoughts!
