A Poem by Sharla Doodle
"

My Aunt leads me to poetry.

"

You asked me to go so I could share my sins,

to divulge the horror I've been living in.

You said it's what He wants,

so who am I to say?

He hasn't spoken to me, at least not today.

I politely declined, citing previous engagement,

you told me you were scared about my soul arrangement.

Truth be told, I just don't see the positive

in living in my past and never moving away from it.

Moral of this story is that I can't believe

if someone gave their life for someone like me

that he'd want me to cry and reflect everyday,

not on how much he loves me,

but how I went astray.

This is a wonderful poem. I like the thinking from outside the box.
Questioning religious teachings must be done for a person to find
their way. Religion can feel like a standardized education with no
room for personal reflection. I have met confrontation in my own
life recently for my opinions. Great...Just great.

An interesting look at an often taboo subject. It was clever and had a nice flow.

I have to admit, poetry confuses the hell out of me. Yet there's something about this poemthat grabs me. I may have to read it either once more, or twenty, to decide exactly what but still, great poem!
