Memories to Keep Us Alive

Memories to Keep Us Alive

A Poem by Samantha Lay

Our memory is forever important
It's the mold which keeps us human,
Every thought of the future is because of our past
We cherish the moments good and the bad.
Remembering the times we never thought we would have
Perhaps our memory is all that we have.
Growing up was never easy
In fact the thought made me kind of queazy
Thinking how life would be
If I chose to be someone I wasn't meant to be,
I never believed time would go by before a blink of my eye
Maybe I'm crazy to think of my memories
All of my friends and enemies
Look at us now all grown up
Cherishing how we never gave up
At times it seemed life could come to an end
But we made it through thick and the thin,
I for one am very grateful for each of my memories
I will forever hold faithfully.
