Freedom

Freedom

A Poem by Miss Shea

In chains they hold us

their strings they pull

Transparent prisons binds us

restrict us

until we can't take it anymore

we fight back

rebel and crush them

stand up, one by one

helping each other up

encouraging our new found crusade

to fight

and win

to gain the freedom we've never had

no rules, no limits,

no one to answer to

and when it's all said and done

we look back at what we've destroyed

with the freedom we now wield

we look at what we have

the barren landscapes we've burned

the lands that we've ruined

buildings turned to rubble

and smoke climbing toward the skies

regret fills our eyes

devours our huger for freedom...

opens our hearts to what we couldn't

what we never realized

we would have done

when we gave in to human nature

when we paved the way to our freedom

surrendered to our craze for more

freedom has a way of destroying things...

a way of destroying us
