Reaching

Reaching

A Poem by Miss Shea

It begins

A dream far beyond my reach

A fading star

Blooming love, but dying hope

How can I explain

All that once was

When now it can’t be

Less than whispers

More than screams

Rising up from with

Vocalizing, wordlessly

Anguish

Crushing me

Dimming, fading…

Suffering becomes my refuge

Where I can dwell alone

Still holding on

To something that seems

To half let me go

And reach for something

Different

Leaving me to feel

Second rate

To the ten percent

I can’t be…

All that I wanted

All that I’ve got…

Is shifting…and changing

And making me afraid…

Of what the future holds

Of what it might hold

What might unfold

And become a part of my life

…but not a part of me…

Can I accept that?

Now?

No…

Why lie? Why give false hope?

When it would be a lie

And it would me my lie

That imprisons me in the misery state

Why reach…when I can’t have?
