Tree

Tree

A Poem by Miss Shea

A tree I began,

So small and lonely

No forest around me

No protection to have

I dug my roots deep

I held on to live

Through all the winds

Through all the snow

I fought off all the critters

I inched up higher

And higher

And higher

I reached toward the sky

And the stars and the moon

And the clouds

I reached for the sun

Reached for that which cannot be bound

I dug my roots deeper

Became steady and fierce

I was truly a beauty

Deep within the ground

No longer the small tree

The helpless little plant

I began the late years

With a new type of stance

I became home to the critters I used to fight

Their shelter from the winds

Their warmth in the snow

That once I could barely stand

I became a forest

Just by myself

I became the life

The home

The comfort

For ever thing around

Well done! I really liked this poem... a lot. Your imagery is very good. I loved the way you used the metaphors in the poem. The wording is just amazing. Who knew you could write so much about a tree! I liked the way you gave the tree a life, a life everyone goes through at some time or another. You made that tree become human. Very creative.
