The Game of LifeA Poem by Miss SheaIt’s cruel, it’s twisted It’s sickly addictive. Join the table, roll the dice Get caught up in the game This insanity called Life. It’s not so bad, you’ll soon see The stakes are high And nothing is free There are different paths for you to take Be careful, choose wisely, There’s little room for mistakes Critics wait around the corner Can you take what they will say? They’ll strip you down and lay you bare An easy target set on display They’ll take you and turn you They’ll work from all sides Confusion will cripple you There’s no where to hide You’ll run in circles While you try to find What you never really lost And in desperation to gain it all A crazed fanatic will escape your mind A frantic search for the secret inside To win, to get away, defeat the game Uncover the lies and claim the prize Years and years will go to waste During the search to find your place In this maze of reality’s illusions False starts will slow you Dead end will hold you Chain you down beneath the surface A black hole devouring Ambition and hope Disarming your defenses Enjoying your struggle and strife Blinding you from the path That you had tried to find Deafening you from the words That helped you all your life And you will never know why It’s so far out of hand Why you can’t ever win Or even begin to understand The reason you even tried To play this crazy game When you'll never get ahead Never escape alive But you’re always left behind Left to wonder why You joined this table And rolled the dice How you got caught up In this Insanity This madness they call Life
