The Eyes of the Fallen

The Eyes of the Fallen

A Poem by Miss Shea

Their eyes are so beautiful
But always cast down
To avoid the stares of others
They stick to the ground
It wasn’t always like this
They once shown bright
They held the same promising glow
As the stars of the night
They were the eyes of the innocent
Their youth still intact
They were meant for a child
But there’s no turning back
Their eyes were filled with horrors
Reflecting unspoken violence
They found shelter in the darkness
Peace inside the silence
They walk the world in shadows
To hide their haunted eyes
To keep the world from knowing
The truth within the lies
The eyes forever downcast
With darkness set within
Over time became known as
The eyes of the fallen

This is definitely my favourite of yours that I have read so far.

They walk the world in shadows
To hide their haunted eyes
To keep the world from knowing
The truth within the lies

These were my favourite lines. Awesome. NH

I don't know what to say...

They stick to the ground
It wasn't always like this
They once shown bright
They held the same promising glow
As the stars of the night

Reminds me of what I once was. What I still am. Reminds me of so many broken souls out there. May God help us all.
