Chapter 10

Chapter 10- Tonight on channel 8 News....

 

Joe stared at Brooke in disbelief. Coming back to his senses he said, "I'm guessing you got my letter." Brooke nodded. She stepped forward and started to ramble senselessly. "Joe, you were right. I did know excatly what I wanted. I knew why I was scared. I'm not happy to admit it, but you were right in every single possible way. You were right. Wait, I've said that. I love you, more than I can explain to you. I was scared that I had such a good thing. I should have trusted you but instead I latched onto Austin. I'm so sorry I left you. I'm stupid. I'm a stupid stupid girl." Joe laughed and pulled Brooke into a big bear hug, and then he kissed her. He grinned wildly at her as he said, "Isn't it funny that this is where everything started. Abousletely everything. You know what I think? I think we should we should get married here one day. It's just so us." Brooke smiled at that thought and started to joke around with him. "So we really are forever this t ime huh?" "Of course! I love you forever, and ever, and ever. I could go on all night. You could fall asleep to a chorus of 'evers'. See how much I love you?" Joe asked holding Brooke as close as possible. "Hm.You love me that much? Well,good. My boyfriend should. Now that we solved our personal problems, we have to talk. Do we really want to go public with our superpowers and controlling abilities? We would have to leave Austin out too. He doesn't really do anything imporant. Not to be mean or anything, but its true. He can't control or create any elements. What do we do?" Brooke asked looking serious. "Well, I personally think we should come forward to the public. That would make Dr.Machelo very happy first off. And it seems like it would fit us. Austin wouldn't care anyways. We could come up with a nickname and everything! Like the Power of Three. That's a book title by Erin Hunter. We could be The Power of Three." Joe said waiting for Brooke's reaction. "I'll be at your house at three in the afternoon tommorow. We should have Devin and Austin with us if we are going to dicuss this." Brooke said standing up. "Uh, School?" Joe questioned. "Oh, come on. There's one week left before summer. I'm not going. And neither are you! Because I say so!" Brooke said very demanding and bossy. Joe said okay and Brooke kiss him goodnight. She told him she loved him and kissed him again. Slowly, she walked down all the stairs, into her house, and straight to her room. She fell asleep and dreamed of going public with her superpowers.

 

Late the next morning, Brooke woke up. It was 12:30 and she was still exhausted. She smiled when she thought of the previous night. For the first time in forever, she grabbed a book and started reading. Soon she was laughing. Brooke found Gossip Girl hilarious yet so addicting. Time flied as she read. soon it was 2:30 and she had realized that she didn't have a way to get to Joe's house. I'll have to get a taxi. she thought. she was going to his house in pjs and no-akeup. She finally got a cab and pulled up in front of Joe's huge house. Her thoughts surrounded her.

 

"Go public? Well, duh! I think we should. It's a good idea but Brooke is right. We would have to elimnate Austin." Devin said once he heard the idea. Austin stood up and said,"guys, it is fine. I don't even want to be part of this. I'm done with stupid superpowers. Leave me out of it. End of dicussion." He left the room and they all shrugged. "So we are gonna go public?" Joe asked. they all nodded and joe picked up the phone, dialed, and put it on speakerphone. "Sorry it's so late Dr.Machelo but we decided to go public. And it is only going to be Joe, Devin, and I." Brooke said. As soon as her last word was spoken, they heard a click on the other line. Devin's phone vibrated and he read the text aloud. "Watch the news at 6. channel 8 News. you are going Public." he read. Brooke and Joe's mouths gaped open. To pass time, they played guitar Hero. At 5:55 they all sat in front of the tv nervously. Why was it happening so fast?

 

The clock ticked 6:00 and the news aired. "Good evening. Tonight we have the Doctor we all thought was crazy, Dr.Machelo. And he has discovered the existence of superpowers. 2 of the teenagers can create an element, and the last teen can only control an element. "They all became public to prove that superpowers do exist. They will not be doing interviews. They are human beings and I will not allow that. Devin, joe, and Brooke are very special kids. Along with Austin Sigell. He has superpowers but not the ability to control or create an element. He has wished to stay out of it. In the end, they are just four ordinary teenagers."Dr.Machelo said. Devin muted the TV and said,"He's right. In the end, we are competely normal. our lives will end, and we will go to college. It will all happen. W are competely normal. We've gone public. Now maybe we could be zapped. you know, get rid of the superpowers." Brooke leaped up and said,"Get rid of them? What? Why? Is that even possible?" "Well controlling elements was possible. So yes, probably. And I agree with Devin. We should get rid of them."Joe said standing. Brooke felt unsteady. Tonight on Channel 8 News, kids get zapped and lose superpowers. Brooke thought. they went through so much worrying with the superpowers, and now they wanted to get rid of them. It made Brooke wander if she should. For a few minutes she considered it, and then she gave her decision.
