CHapter 7- Rude Awakenings

"Austin. We better sleep. We don't want to wake Joe." Brooke said in-between kisses. Joe turned over and opened his eyes. He glanced at his watch and then glared at Austin. Brooke quickly walked over to the furthest bed from Joe and layed down. She pulled up the covers and tried to ignore the wave of guilt that washed over her. She had a boyfriend when she broke up with the last one only 4 hours before. And the boyfriend was her ex's foster brother. It was at that time, when she realized that she had messed up big time. She prenteded to fall asleep when she heard shuffling in the room. She felt someone's breath on her neck. "Yeah. She's asleep." She heard Austins voice say. "Then lets talk." Joe said and Brooke could hear alot of disappointment and hurt in his voice. "Your already with her. I knew she liked you but why so fast? You know I love her. Do you want to kill me? I can't stand even seeing her with someone else, let alone you." Joe said to Austin. Brooke let a tear slip and regretted it. "Joe...I...I'm sorry but i like her." JOe sighed and said, "And I love her." "Guys go to bed." Brooke said turning over to face Joe and Austin. She couldn't handle it anymore. "Brooke..I.."Joe started when he saw her tears. "No. just go to bed." Brooke said more forcefully. Brooke turned over hugging herself. She had created a disaster and on top of that she had to learn to control water this week. Her life was crashing down in front of her. Was this a sign that she was destined to be with Joe? She didn't know and she was was so exhausted that she didn't care.

 

The next morning, she woke up and felt awful. She looked in the mirror and her eyes were red and puffy. She looked back and both of the boys were still sleeping. She grabbed a pair of clothes, and slipped into the bathroom to take a shower. She felt renewed and refreshed afterwards. She put on make-up and did her hair. She stepped out of the bathroom and saw Jow sitting in a chair writing. Since when does he write? Brooke thought. "Watcha' writing?" Brooke said trying to sound happy. "Eh..a letter." Joe said putting the thin piece of paper away. Brooke smiled at Joe, and then picked up a pillow and threw it at Austin. I didn't do it Mo- oh hey Brooke." Austin said grinning. Brooke giggled and said, "Get up. Lets go get some breakfast." Austin got up, brushed his teeth, and grabbed Brooke's hand as they left. JOe sighed. Soon they would all be busy controlling their elements and we wouldn't have to think about Brooke or his broken heart.

"where do you wanna eat? There's an Ihop across the street." Austin said putting his arm around Brooke's waist. Brooke said she wanted to go there so they started walking. Being goofy, Austin gave her a piggyback ride across the street. Brooke was giggling and Austin was smiling. They went inside and got a table. Then they ordered and eventually ate. They walked back to the hotel and Brooke saw someone she knew very well. "Mom! Hey! You got here. YOu know Austin. Austin, this is my mom." Brooke said. "I'm honored to finally meet my girlfriends mom." Austin smiled. "Girlfriend? uhm, okay. Brooke, you make your own descicions so I'm not gonna ask." Brooke's mom said quietly. Brooke nodded. She had forgotten tthat last time she saw her mom she had told her that she was madly in love with Joe. And now she was with Austin. Her mom had to be disappointed in her. "Well I'm gonna go up to my room. See you soon honey. Nice to meet you Austin." Brooke's mom said walking off to her room. "your mom seems nice. Though, she didn't seem too happy with you now dating me." Austin said looking worried. Brooke signed and reached out for Austin's hand. She soon found Austin's hand. She never said anything back to the comment about her mom. She acknowledged that today as her last day of free time. Dr.Machelo would be arriving tonight. "Austin, lets go up to the room and change. We need to go to the beach. Please?" Brooke asked pouting her lips. Austin giggled and said," Sure. Come on. Let's go change." They walked into room 106 and found that Joe was not there. Brooke grabbed her bikini and went to the bathroom to change. She came out in a blue and white striped bikini. She saw Austin in a pair of black swim trunks that show the top of his blue striped boxers. It showed off his toned musuclar body. Brooke had the desire to kiss every inch of uncovered flesh. Then Austin smiled and Brooke couldnt resist any longer. She ran to him and kissed him. "you look amazing Austin. He smirked and said," I think you look even greater." Brooke smiled and they kicked off their shoes. If they were going to the beach, then they were gonna go barefoot. Brooke loved the beach, they acted like second homes to her. Austin wrapped his arms around his girlfriend as they walked to the beach. When they got to the beach, Brooke wriggled free and ran off into the sang. Austin smiled and ran after her and tackled her into the sand. Brooke took that moment and kissed him. "Ocean. Lets go to the ocean." Brooke said smiling. Austin realized that this was Brooke's zone and she was calmest here. "Okay. Your just a beautiful as that ocean." Austin said. Brooke let out a giggle and said," Ohhh. you smoothtalker. You use that on all the girls? But thank you." AUstin stood up and reached his hand out to Brooke. When she took his hand, he felt a surge of adrelanilne rush through him. His blood flowed faster, and his heart beat louder. SHe smiled at him and almost instantly a smile popped up on his face in return. He was falling for he so hard, and he couldn't help it. He walked out to the ocean shore with Brooke. Brooke sighed and let her feet touch the water. Shivers sent up her spine as her toes felt the tingling sensastion of send between them. She was so wrapped up in thought, that when Austin picked her up she screamed. He laughed and she splashed him. She swam out further. she was feeling so happy.

Somewhere else on the same beach, Joe was sitting on sand. He was being killed by thoughts and uncontrollable emotions. He needed to get away. Joe felt like he wanted to die. Half of him wished he had never met Brooke. she made him feel like no other. "Joe! so this is where you've been.." Joe heard. Does she have to haunt me everywhere? Joe thought. He turned around to face Brooke and did the nly thing that would make her stop haunting him. "Brooke, go away. I don't want you near me. So go! Go find Austin. Your with him, leave me along. We're over now, we're done. so go!" He looked at her stifly. "Joe, I, okay. If thats what you want then fine.-Hold on Austin. Im coming!- You can have it that way. Goodbye." Brooke said turning and jogging off to Austin. Joe saw them link arms as they walked back to the hotel. It was getting close to sunset and Dr.Machelo would be here soon. Then everything might be a bit better. He stood up and started making his way back to the hotel. he walked slow enough so he wouldn't run into Brooke and Austin. Right now, he hated them boted. He walked into the hotel and saw Austin, Brooke, and Brooke's mom crowded around Dr.Machelo. "Beach week" had begun and he was already late.
