Chapter 2

Chapter 2-Discovered Secrets

"What do you mean by Superpowers?" Brooke asked.

"Superpowers. Oh come on, you should know what superpowers are. You know how Batman, Superman, Robin, all have superpowers? Some can fly, become invisible, some are super strong, some can run really fast,and so on." he said.

"Joe, I know what superpowers are. I'm not a complete idiot. But why did you say 'It's not like YOU have superpowers'? " Brooke said.

"Well, uhm, I cant tell you why."

"Joe, do you have superpowers?" Brooke asked.

"I can't tell you!!"He screamed at her.

"Well, you don't have to scream at me!" Brooke yelled back at him.

"Look, I'm sorry. I think it's time I just tell you my secret." he said.

Brooke swallowed, her heart deciding to run or stay. Brooke pushed back her fears and said," Your right, I guess it's time." Joe stood up and went to the side of the building, and looked at her and said simple five words. "Push me off the building." Brooke slowly walked up to him and pushed him hard, pushing all her anger with him. Did I just commit murder? Oh s**t, I'm going to be arrested and locked up forever! Brooke thought. "Hey girlie!" Brooke heard from behind her, so she turned around and Joe was floating in mid-air. Brooke started to stutter as she said,"Are you f-f-f-f-lying?" "Why, I didn't notice, but yes I am." Joe said as he surfaced himself on the building. "Oh.My.God. Im dreaming. I swear by my life I'm dreaming. Nobody can fly. Im getting dizzy. Im going to faint. Not right now. Please don't faint Brooke. Im going to faint! Please don-" Brooke suddenly fainted and fell right off the edge of the building. I was going to die. My life ended before it even began. Brooke thought.

About 15 minutes Brooke heard voices, and she realized she was alive. She was safe. Brooke was in someone arms and she started to freak out. "Im alive. LET GO OF ME!" Brooke said before she even knew who was holding her. "Calm down Brooke, Its Joe. You fainted. And I used my flying powers, and caught you. Please chill out." he said as he held her close. "So, you really have superpowers?" Brooke said enjoying Joe's warmth. She contiuned her sentence with " Well, I can tell you my secret. Get ready to be shocked." He said he was ready. So Brooke stepped back and turned invisible. Very quickly she heard Joe say,"Brooke, where are you?" Brooke went back to being visible and said, "Surprise! I have superpowers too. Isn't it great? Thats my big secret. Invisiblity." . "Wow. I so didnt expect that from you. Well we know each other's secrets now. So, now what?" Joe said. "I dont know. Good question, now what?" Brooke rebuttled. He came close and whispered, "Now this." He leaned in competely and placed his lips upon hers. Brooke was breathless but found enough words to say, "Wow, now that I wasnt expecting. Your such a good kisser." "Haha. Thanks. You are too. You know Ive felt like youve been part of my life forever. Like Ive known you forever. You know? Do you?" He asked. "Well, I feel the same way." "Brooke, your amazing. Your just perfect and I wanted to-" He was cut off by Brooke's phone. "WHAT? No, im fine. Ill be home in a minute . Mhm okay. IM ON MY WAY, I TOLD YOU THAT MOM. Love you too. bye."Brooke said sounding pissed off. She stood up and faced Joe, " I have to go. Talk to you at school. Bye." She hugged him and walked off. When she got home, her mom was at the dinner table and looked up and told Brooke to get ready for dinner.

Brooke looked outside her bedroom mirror and it had started to rain really hard. Brooke barely made out Joe's body still sitting there. Brooke was nervous, he was there in the rain. But she told herself he would be fine. Does he even a family? Or anyone? Brooke thought. "Dinner time!" her mom said breaking into her silence. Brooke shut her window so her room wouldnt be cold. She ran down to her dinner. They were having chicken, corn-on-the-cob, and cheescake. Brooke ate and then went back up to her room to take a shower. SHe got out and looked at her window. It was open. I closed it though. Brooke thought. She closed it once again, and walked away to her bed. After forgetting about her window, she fell asleep. Brooke woke up the next morning and felt a sudden cold breeze. "Why in the world is it so cold?" Brooke murmed. Her gaze shifted towards her window. It was open. Again. Even though she had closed it. Twice. She walked over to her window and closed it. And this time she locked it. Brooke hurried around the house getting ready for school. She gave her mom a kiss and ran out the door. Brooked lived not far from school so she always walked to school. Looking at her watch, she started slowing down, knowing if she ran she would be early. About 6 minutes later, she arrived at school. Brooke went to her locker and opened it up. "Hey Brooke." she heard my best friend Julie say. Brooke smiled and waved. She got her books out of her locker. Brooke walked to 1st period. She had science. "Good morning class. Mr. Rohlek is not here today so im subbing for him. Im Ms. Stripe. When I call your name, please say here." the young women said to the class.

 

She went through the list. All followed with a 'here'. Then suddenly Brooke heard "Joe Bradley." "Joe Bradley?" Ms.Stripe said once more. Brooke's eyes got wide. "Here. Ms.Stripe, can I use the restroom?" he asked. She told him yes. She called Brooke's name at least 4 times before she came back to the world. Brooke said here. But she also asked to use the restroom facilities. She answered yes. Brooke walked straight into the boys bathroom as she heard some groaning. "Joe. Oh my gee." Brooke said speechless. He was lying on the floor with a knife in his hands. And both of his wrists were bleeding and he was going for his stomach. "Oh my gee. You tried to kill yourself. Suicide." Brooke came back to her senses and took his shirt off. Brooke sliced it in half and wrapped a piece around his wrist. "Now what do we have here?"the principal said walking in. "He tried...he tried..to commit suicide. So i was saving him." Brooke said. "You are suspened. for 2 weeks. For a public display of affection act." He said at the turn of his heel. "WAIT!" Brooke screamed.
