Tables TurnedA Poem by AmberShe's grown up and gone now. Written about an older figure in my life. Basically my big sister (:Innocent little me, Sitting with a smile upon my face, Enjoying the care-free taste Of young life. I never knew what right words to say To make your pain go away. I spoke from my young heart; Never being able to relate To the monsters that dictated your thoughts. You are more experienced; Wiser than me. Yet you trusted naive me With your secrets. Holding your hand, We cried and cried. Heads pressed together, Embracing as I tried to console. Exposed, torn a part me, Sitting with tears streaming down my face, Praying for an answer To this life. Have the tables turned? Am I supposed to hold my own hand now? What I used to say echos in my mind. Where has that little care-free girl gone? “Darling,” you whisper, Moving my tangled hair to see my Wide, terrified eyes. Wiping away my warm tears. “She’s never left.” © 2012 AmberFeatured Review
