Shadow of David

Shadow of David

A Poem by FoolsParadise

Darkness falls across the land,
Ration books are in high demand.
Children and adults carry the very same scar,
Of that deadly, destructive, yellow star.

The people of David try to run,
To avoid death only known as Mauthausen.
The Jewish  try to shelter away,
For a chance to live another day.

Hitler's speeches have empowered his reign,
His army of Nazis only caused pain.
The Allied Forces did not see this as right,
But are they ready for the power of the Third Reich?

                                                     Battle after battle,
                                                     Gun after gun,
After six dreadful years, the war was done.

"The Allies Won!" We proclaimed in glee,
It has came to an end, the trail of blood and misery.
Though the Jewish race had taken a toll,
Hopes and dreams had filled their soul.

A lot has changed ever since that war,
Be thankful for what you have before Death is knocking on your door.
