Children's logic

Mama, I'm hungry, I want something to eat
Okay, let me see if I can find you a treat
I do want some candy but fruit it will do
I still need to do the groceries but this is what I have for you
There's one banana in the fruit bowl but it has a brown spot
So what mama, it doesn't matter...a racist I am not

Oh my goodness! What's that smell?
I don't know mama, can you tell?
I think you are the one who has something to say
If that were true, I'd say okay
I do think it's true. Wouldn't you agree?
I smell what you smell, but to believe I must see

Mama, I don't understand...from where do we come?
I don't know either...(mama pretends dumb)
There was Adam and Eve but two sons they had
You'd get a good explanation, not from me but from dad
But mamaaaaa, to reproduce, someone had to do the 'ding dong'
Monkeys baby monkeys, that's where we came from

Author's Note

Scrap
I wanted to use italics to show the mama part, but since i do everything on my phone, i couldnt. But i think its easy to see the different parts.

I probably will add to this poem sometime in the future. But this is a start.

Really good. Even though it is not in italics the meaning can be grasped. And that is all is expected.

Flow forward, writer.

Wishes,
Sandra.

i like the dialogue here...and it is ironic...the child doesn't understand the prejudice but actually shows more maturity than the parent...we learn prejudice, we are not born with it.
we all came from somewhere...all of us...the same....

a very insightful write.

Than you. :)
This was funny and fun and sounds like some things a kid would ask.
