How does one lose a soulmate?

How does one lose a soulmate?

How does one lose a soulmate?
You.
There you were, sitting opposite of me.
That instant connection when our eyes met
Was like a force unknown, bonding
What felt familiar and undoubting
Like an old friend in a new fragrance
Sharing secrets without hesitance
They are safe,
You are safe,
With me.
Wrapped in euphoria unexplained
While breathing breaths of calm,
Comfortable in authenticity
Eventhough naked in vulnerability.
You are mine,
I am yours,
We are one.
Your coffee cup is empty
In a hurry you have to leave
So I reach to shake your hand goodbye
Instead you walk over and kiss my cheek
In your warmth, I freeze
Watching you then walk away
My companion
My love
My soulmate.

Why couldn't you cross my path earlier?
Then realising the reality of my very own obligations to fulfill.

That was beautiful. Beauty. The way you drew us in, the way you tugged at our heart strings. The way you have carried us to your lover. The gentle way, you said good bye. Is so potent. It feels as though his memory still lingers there in your heart,

Thank you so much...yes, it's fresh.
Love will test us often.
"You are mine,
I am yours,
We are one. "
The sad part of the soulmate. Most times. They meet at the wrong times. Just tenders touches and wishes missed. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry dear Poet.

I agree and you are welcome.
I love this. The whole thing almost makes me believe in multiple lives for one soul. Well actually I have played with that thought for years and on occasions such as this, I'm reminded why. "Maybe Next Time" is on this theme. You have given us a great narrative poem that takes me back and makes me smile. Truly enjoy reading your work. :-)

Oops! Sorry. :(
i hear you, i think you have done a beautiful job, i related, didn't have to pause, and the last two lines were a perfect ending, it made me think both characters were thinking to same thing.... yet sadly unspoken, then i remember the title, and i get it :)

thank you :)

Thank you Woody.
Hi, I enjoyed the story.
This part needs something:
"Wrapped in euphoria unexplained
While breathing breaths of calm
Comfortable in authenticity
Eventhough naked in vulnerability
You are mine,"
-maybe a rephrasing or just more punctuation.

Thank you. I tried the punctuation. :)
Its funny how the chemistry of love changes without warning like if its not nurtured continuously that spark dwindles and dies which you depicted so well in this lovely write scrap!
