First let me say I love your poetry...whoever you may be... and it doesn't matter because each poem is unique dark or light or about one's moods.... Is this a spoof on boring poetry??? in any case I will keep reading your poetry!!! I think you're trying to be humorous.....many of mine are dark , third person, not necessarily about me....

Ha! Yes it's true. When I write it's not all about me and real experiences and I hate when people assume there's something wrong if I've written something dark.
Yes sometimes you just take things on face value, no need to scratch under the surface however everyone likes being a detective sleuth looking for a motive. Comedy is one taken on face value.
I did like this poem. Us, who love to write. We must be hard-skin. You can't make all people happy. I liked the honest tone in the words. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

This made me think of all the times growing up in school where an English teacher would tell us about the deep inner meaning of some type of writing. Even then I was always sitting back and wondering if that's what was really intended by the author or if we just wanted it to be so. Still a question I don't have an answer to, and I don't expect I ever will. It's not just something we do with written things though, humans have such a habit of trying to make everything more (or less) than it is, and rarely just looking at what it actually is. Intriguing...

Still, maybe we would be more relatable if we just realize all we can do is assume a meaning. So why not choose the happiest, most empowering meaning?
It’s all a delusion of our own making.
I don't take much of anything too seriously and that at times can be a problem but, I am only who I am and that is all I can be or in the words of Popeye...I yam what I yam.
Though I do see at times people read a lot into something that is nothing at all. There were times I would post a poem with a note at the bottom that read...It's only a poem. So not to have people worried about me.
This was pretty cool my friend and I mean that seriously.

I like your way of reading this. Ha.
Thank you kindly my friend.
There's a lot of meaning in this poem. I liked the ending. A kiss or a kiss-off, makes me think of all the things a real kiss could mean. tyfs

As always there are meanings to found, said, unsaid, implied, and even unintended.

Thank you for the visit and leaving a thought.
Reading into things is a common human failing. We extrapolate and intrapolate. We interpret and try to add layers to what is said or done. We don't want to settle for the simple meaning and want the matter complicated. In the end, we just see what we want to see, hear what we want to hear. Anything else is unacceptable. Liked this poem so much. Thanks for the share.
It is one of man's follies indeed; we overthink motives, take away wrong perspectives, misjudge others, prohect our feelings into illusions and so forth. We are all guilty of sorts.
You nailed it in a soft, humorous way.

Indeed. Thank you very much for your time to read and comment.
and simple can be refreshing sometimes....everything gets over "thunked"---
Sometimes what is there is exactly what is there...nothing between the lines, between the stanzas, between the title and the last line.
I like this one, my friend
and I won't Stop reading you.

Wanting to learn more how to express emotion in poetic form. Wanting to inspire others and allow others to inspire me. Learning to be vulnerable and grow more..
