Chapter two: Back to the basics

Chapter two: Back to the basics

A Chapter by Scott
"

Just getting his new shop and packing his stuff into the small bedroom upstairs, Koji starts brewing with his handy Alchemy 101 book to keep him on track as he starts to brew potions for the shop.

"
He walked into the large room, the door closed behind him as he looked around. half the room contained the usual brewing equipment, brewing stands, cauldrons and long complicated series of tubes and glass flasks and beakers. The rest of the room had weighting scales and large oak table with a couple big book and another door with storage wrote across it. there was also a water tap and a couple chair scattered about the place as he took a deep breath and had a big smile on his face.
He sat down at the large table and dragged one of the big book ''damn, its heavily'' he cursed as he dragged it to in front of him. he gazed at the book in front of him, a light purple hard back book with golden boarders with a big title in white with a black out line spelled out -Alchemy 101-. Koji smiled as he turned over the front cover skipping the contents page, straight to the first page with the title -Chapter 1: Starting with the basics-. Koji already knew the basics with Mr Tomu but his memory isn't great so he wanted to go over the basics again.
The first page of the book was just about the equipment you need. So as soon as he finished reading the first page, he started the second page with the subtitle -Water: Purity and magical properties-. Koji started to read out loud the paragraph below.
"Water..the most important ingredient for any and every potion in the world. Water is used as the base for all potions mostly because of its magic properties, which has very little aspects of any elements apart from aqua and purest, it doesn't mess with the mixing and forming of different aspects into specific potions. Also the purity of the water could affect the mixture with trace aspects in the water. So its recommended for any potion, you make the water as pure as you can to improve the effectiveness of the potion."
Following after the paragraph, a very basic potion ritual (basically how to make the potion) for the infin-water potion. Koji smiled as he read what he needed: Glass bottle, water at 25% or more purity and 10 grams of infin-dust. He stood up and headed for the storage room and tried to open it but it was locked ''oh yea'' he said as got out the same key but slides the opposite side of the key, the back end, into the odd shaped key hole and turns it slowly waiting five second between each ninety degrees. When he finally turns the key three hundred and sixty degrees the door clicks and then opens slightly. With a small sly smirked he said ''finally, i can see in this room" as the door open all there was a small oak table, a fairly large crate filled with glass bottles and vials and a book like the ones on the table . He pouts to his disappointment "aw come on..really?..just a crate and a book..the old man tricked me and left me nothing" as he walked into the room, the door suddenly closed and the book opened and started to flick through its blank pages as Koji with a confused look, ponder on what the hell is happening. The book finally stopped at a page with only one sentence and an outline of a hand below it, Koji stepped cautiously towards the book and read the sentence "May only free will of the master may touch the requirements...". The sentence only confused him even more but he decided to place his hand in the outline anyway which oddly perfectly fit around his hand.
He then heard a soft low ringing in his ears as he stared at the page next to the one his hand was on slowly, text were forming on the page of the names of potions and a page number at the bottom which could mean there was more. This sparked a curiosity within him so he pressed his finger on Swift traveler then the page text changes into the ritual for swift traveler. There was a description of the potion and its effects then a list of the ingredients. What was odd that beside each ingredient was a number, most were green and one was red and below the list was red writing saying -Not enough ingredients for ritual- and the whole time Koji was smiling like an idiot. He pressed back found at the top left of the page and text changed back to the list of potions then he pressed the infin-water text and the page changed the same way the swift potion did and lucky for him, he had just enough infin-dust for the potion then the thought struck him, how does he get the ingredients if there was only a book. To answer his curiosity the pressed the green text below the list saying -summon ingredients- and suddenly with a flash the two small pouch, one labeled infin-dust and the other purified salt and a two small black balls appeared on the table next to the book and some of the ingredients on the list turned red. He jumped and fell back hitting his head against the wall with his back then jumped back on his feet and looked at the ingredients like a kid looking at a pile of candy. ''Oooh? so that is how we get the ingredients'' his smile was getting bigger by the second as he picked up the pouches and small balls then a glass bottle then walked out the storage room, the book closing itself. He jumped a little as the door suddenly slammed shut ''damn it, i cant even get used to that'' he put the ingredients down on the large oak table and went to grab a bottle stand and a bunsen burner and put it down next to the ingredients. He also got a glass rod from hidden draw in the table, glass is the best material to make potions with because its properties are only purity.
He plugged the rubber tube from the bunsen burner into a gas tap with a nob on top so he can control the flame gas. He placed the bottle stand over the bunsen then the bottle on top. He picked up the bottle then realised it wasn't filled with water ''damn it'' he walked over to the water tap and filled the bottle with water then walked back. The bottle was put onto the stand then he yawns a little. He smiled as he was finally ready to brew his first potion as a shop keeper.
He pick up the small of pouch with the purified salt and poured its contents into the bottle then lit the bunsen and sliding it under the stand. He watches while stirring with a glass rod the solution so the salt dissolves better as it comes to the boil. Just before the solution started bubbling he took out the glass rod then green and red steam like smoke started to come out of the top of the bottle. The smoke was the properties or aspects that would ruin the potion, green being Terra and red being Infre. When the green and red smoke stopped, he then grabbed the two small black balls which perfectly fit down the neck of the bottle and both the balls started to break up and dissolve in the now a little blackish solution. When the balls finally dissolved, he swirled the bottle a little to check that its ready for the finally step. It was quite ready so he left it to bubble a little with the flame a little smaller until the solution when clear again. He squealed a little as he picked up the small pouch of infin-dust and slowly poured it in which made the solution have a slightly purple tint to it.
He put the flame off and moved the bunsen away then he looked at the finished potion cooling down. He then realised that he needed a stopper so he quickly ran to get one ''Crap! stopper i forgot the stopper!'' , the bottle started to overflow slowly as it was making more and more water. ''Oh no...'' he grabbed a stopper and quickly put it on before making too much of a mess. He laughed a little from happiness but also trying to laugh from the fact that now he has to mop up ''damn it...time to mop up'' he was getting flash back of him moping up the floor after Mr Tomu's spills or messes he made which annoyed him a little. He grabbed a mop and started to mop up the water, luckily for him the mop was enchanted so it pretty much ate all the spills and messes it could get.
