The Tide of Karma

The Tide of Karma

A Poem by Scott Durham
"

An open letter to David Hume

"
When a word must follow the thought
and the cosmic tide must rise
with such tender clarity I resolve
to be loyal
to be truthful
to be human

I never knew myself all at once
only pictures from a dream
And so how can I now know you?
When all I really am is in between
And the whispers of my long dead reason
are much much louder than it might seem
I wanna be hungry
I wanna be a good man until the end
I wanna know that everything I can't say
is alright to just not say

The way a footprint lies in the dust
the way a mountain gives up all its shade
The Tide of Karma is coming in
and it will send me out once again...
