What Dreams Remain

What Dreams Remain

A Poem by ScotchRoberts
"

My thoughts on what lies in the past, what lies ahead, and what it all means.

"

Just as I know the seemingly endless ocean

Will eventually reach a shore,

I once thought I was immortal,

But I don't think that way anymore.

As dreams descend from ether to Earth,

I see them better for what they are -

Mile markers strewn along chosen paths

Reminding me where I've been so far.

So looking ahead as if squinting out to sea,

I search the horizon through the haze.

There to discern what dreams remain

Like glimmers of hope born on glinting rays.

And there I find my children.

I feel reborn within their eyes.

The essence of God is the goodness

We leave in other people's lives.

So in them I am immortal.

At least I hope to be.

May they pass on what good I gave them,

As they set sail upon their sea.

I truly enjoyed reading this poem! Your analogies are wonderful! And yes we all hope that our children carry some of our dreams and do better for themselves and do more for the betterment of all mankind.
