Buried Alive

Buried Alive

A Poem by Jamie
"

From within the coffin

"

Buried Alive!

Darkness encompasses, light evades,
Confinement shrouds in bleakness,
Sound is vacant except for strained breath;
Fingernails claw and snap in eager struggle.
Fear snatches at the soul, ripping with terror,
A heart pounds with rapid thumps as chest tightens;
Claustrophobia sets in, sweat runs, limbs quiver,
Tears form and slip freely down dirtied cheeks.
Enshrouded in silent black, closeness of wood,
Worms slither, bugs creep, and oxygen escapes.
Lungs collapse, eyes bulge, and limbs relax;
The mind slows, regrets forge in,
Memories fade, life stops,
The struggle is no more,
Death takes the soul.
