The Morning Cleansing (4:45 AM)

The Morning Cleansing (4:45 AM)

A Poem by Mike; The Lone Maverick
"

This is a poem inspired by the poet laurate and an influence of mine Charles Simic

"

"4:45 AM" (The Early Morning Cleansing)

I'm sitting at the apex of dawn
When the sun's stll galaxies away
At 4:45 in the morning looking at
The spiders biting the dimensions

Of my bruised body, weaving
Cobwebs all over my body--
Constructing a rope to hang
Myself with in this opaque depth

I stare at myself in this mirror
Where the pyrmaids collided before
This dilapidated shack, Medusa my
Mother is sleeping in a bed of Cobras

I gaze with tenebrous tears exiting
From my insominac eyes, the crows
Feet scratch my eyes out, the black
Cat croons below in the basment

Luring me to walk the streets
With a gun, to murder those
who I thought loved me, I
Think I'm losing my mind

At 4:45 Am becuase the weary
Cockroach tells me smother my
Sister with a pillow, walking blind
I hit my head on humanity's refrigerator

I lay comatose at the beginning
Of a new morose day, maybe the next
Night the broken lamp could flicker
Me to a new life, a bold new universe

The content is pretty amazing...you really paint quite a powerful word picture here while creating a world that is bleak and strangely beautiful in its essence. But then again a lot of dreams have that juxtaposition between the horrific and the beautiful.

Wonderful use of vocabulary. The content is a little heavy for me....but life isn't always sunshine and rainbows. It's an INTERESTING read as in it makes one wonder what's going on in your life to write this. And to get someone's mind whirring is often a gift in this have-it-all-now world.

Hello Mike,
This is a powerful dark poetic express, and perhaps may intimidate some readers. I like dark poetry
I love how you staged the scene of these verses with webs & spiders. Your very good at this, and I read your Butterfly poem, so I can also say how nice to be so flexible with your genre of verse!
