I don't want to wake up alone

I don't want to wake up alone

A Poem by w
"

absence makes the heart long

"
Another sleepless night
in our room
with the lights
turned off
so I can’t see
what’s missing,

but I can still feel
the empty space
where you
used to lay
and wrap
your arms around me.

You held me as I
fell asleep in your arms
every night

then I would wake
to your beautiful face
every morning

and I took it all for granted.

Now I can’t sleep
because I don’t want
to wake up alone.

This poem you made is my favorite. Primarily because it describes what I myself am going through right now.
I love it for someone finally found the words to these feelings, but I also hate it because it strikes a cord within that hollow part.
Now I need to escape your sorrowful yet beautiful poem.

This is so sad. I can totally relate right now. Very touching and well written.

This is terrific conceptually. Now expand, please? Maybe some images? Cars turning on in the morning. Sheets a mess. Is there make-up on her face? Blue-lights from the TV still flickering on the walls? These are cr@ppy examples of images, but I'm just improvising. Thanks for a great read!

I like this. There's feeling in this. Honesty, regret, longing. Certainly something one can relate to.

The somber, almost fearful, tone the poem was written in is amazing. Great job to truly pain the sorrow of emptyness after the beauty. Very well written.

Ah yes... the lovely heartbreak after a breakup. Well said, as I have felt this myself. Thanks for sharing!

The last stanza is the best. Not because the others are bad, but how it ties up the thoughts and sentiments of the entire piece.
