A Song Only We Know

 

 

 

Isn’t it amazing?

The silence that we keep.

If only one of us would stand-

And one of us would speak.

 

And yet we remain so distant

Only to become so close.

It’s the same song over again

The lyrics we already know.

 

We’ve sang it over and twice again

To music that makes no sense

And yet we still dance to the tune

But we have forgotten all the steps.

 

It’s my favorite song and I don’t want it to end

But I knew eventually the music will stop.

I wish I could trap this moment

And hold it in a music box.

 

And yet we remain so distant

Only to become so close-

Dancing to the music

The only kind we know.

I really like this poem, it reminds me of me cause I love music and I know there are songs that I don't want to end. I can think of quite a few! I don't know if this is what you want people to think when they read this poem but it's what I thought of.
