"

Does anyone else not recognize themselves in pictures?

"

stranger in a frame

wearing my face  and my past

me, but no longer

How beautifully evocative these seventeen syllables are! I have often looked at a photograph of myself and seen a stranger, whose face I seem to have borrowed (but returned damaged); whose build I somewhat recall (though extensively abetted!), whose smile I stole (and retired). Delightful work, Mason!
