frustrated

a poem in frustration over a never-ending science vs religion "debate" in the PPX - a site for trading science and technology predictions

R v. S just couldn't lie
though never changing, doomed to die
a sad new twist we'll now endure
until it's dragged through horse manure
from the self-same cursed equine
that's beaten cruelly for all time
no peace this pony ever gets
no winners here, just save your bets
on both sides fundamentalists
opposed like dueling pugilists
neither side will hear the other
logic, reason, buried, smothered
outcomes chosen a priori
bitter fighting often gory
those between frustrated are
powerless to stop a war
that has no point, a silly fight
for in this neither "side" is "right"
denying God, a soul made numb
ignoring science - just plain dumb
there's only Truth and love and life
enjoy your world, your kids, your wife
there's nothing True you have to fear
but ignorance will kick your rear
and turn you into something sad
a person making others mad
because you will not see clear reason
though repeated day and season
a universe of awe and wonder
given us, to study, ponder
nothing in it to mislead us
rather to inspire and seize us
with the awesomeness of One
beyond our wildest dreams to come
and how He did it, does it matter?
is He less if we should gather
that He took enormous time
slowly shaping life from slime?
NO, I think it's MORE amazing
that creativity so blazing
should have crafted all we see
including you, including me
I, for one, love to discover
how my Maker, Lord, and Lover
chose to build the setting I
am blessed to live in and to die
when I meet Him face to face
I'll ask my questions, fly through space
perhaps new wonders are in store
when I've sailed from this fair shore
until then, though, I am afraid
we'll get this stupid thread replayed...

if only all the fighting and the condescending wars could just end - maybe then there might be some discoveries.
adults can have issues many kids find unremarkable and almost fathemless
i liked how descriptive all this was and its true
