This could've been a Lanterne...except that the last line rhymes with the third line. And for it to be a Lanterne nothing's supposed to rhyme. So, I guess I screwed up.

The style of poem is unimportant. The length of this verse conveys your point even more, how short life is and if we're lucky we gain happiness. It's okay that it rhymes, it actually sounds better than if another word were to be substituted.
