This poem is a tribute to a fellow university student, a victim of forced LOA, who committed suicide last March 15. Due to her inability to pay her tuition, our university, a public school funded by the government, forced her to file LOA. Since then, she felt ashamed of going to school because she is not fully enrolled. To think that a portion of the people's taxes have been allocated for the university's funds, isn't it ironic to see that money has been the issue here? The current administration just showed its inability to fulfill the dreams of poor students to have equal educational rights with others.
Rest in peace, love. We pray for your soul to rest now and continue to fight for your sake.
P.S. I'm not encouraging anyone to commit suicide.

i dont think there would be any reason to make a person commit suicide. i know life has got so much more harder, i know that people have become much more careless and selfish, but even though, we must be strong enough to be able to survive. if she couldnt pay the university fees, she kills herself? i dont think this is really logic, let the university go to hell and live your life even if you cant continue in university. i feel really sad reading this. i think that capitalism is the worse economic strategy people have ever done. capitalism steps on the poor to make the wealthy more wealthy. how comes that united states helps other countries while it doesnt help her own people? i think there must be a way to help needy students there either through the government or businessmen who donno where to pay their money..

Capitalism is more commonly practiced now and corporations, stockholders and businessmen are now leading as the country's greedy leaders. She committed suicide because she felt embarrassed going to school not fully enrolled since her father's only income as a driver cannot be allotted to pay her whole tuition fee. She also worked desperately to compensate for such loss but it's not enough. Moreso, the admin forced her to have an LOA just because she can't pay the tuition fee. I'm so angry at them! These students are the only hope for a brighter future and they have taken away their liberty of having equal educational rights with others. Also, our university is being funded by the government but the allocated budget is not enough to suffice the whole student body since corrupt officials put some of it in their pockets.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. I really appreciate the feedback.
Your words are true. I believe need to cut the 1.2 trillion on war and offer free education. Old wise man once said. "Children are the wealth of a country." Here in the USA. Children education is cut first and military gets more. Want a sad fact. USA spend more money on war than the complete world. This is sad. I pray we get real leaders with wisdom. The children pay for the mistakes of bad leadership. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

To feel ashamed in my opinion is caused by peer pressure. Indeed, this world is a screwed up mess, but...you must always believe in yourself, for at times you will be the only one who deos. Very sad and nice of you to write this for the friend you lost.
This is full of truth, the world truly is in a bad place and it is destined to only get worse. You have written this beautifully. Though, it is very, very sad.
Margarette, It truly touches me that you have written something for a student who couldn't pay her tuition fees & committed suicide. And "Suicide" is narrated so well showing ills of our system. A pat on your back from ma end. I like you & your work here.
(RIP love)

Thank you and thanks for the concern! She will be very happy wherever she is right now.
It's truly a tragedy that such a thing would happen at an age when dreams are supposed to take shape...it's hard to be optimistic about anything when these kinds of stories pop up on a daily basis, but as you say, we must stay strong for the memory of a life that was ended far too early. An emotional and brilliant piece.

Thank you for posting such a strong tribute and reminder to the ones that are on the brink that need our help the most and for being that herald of truth for your friend who passed away. I am sure she truly appreciates it and is watching over and protecting you now.

I am so deeply touched by such reason that I can't help but write it and make it a tribute for her sake. Even though we are not friends and not related in course (i'm a biology student, she's taking behavioral science), I can empathize with her. Anyway, thanks for the review! You made my day!

Woah, this was such a moving read, it was so emotional and relate-able to alot of people.
It is a shame what happened to the student that took her life, it is terrible and so sad when someone takes their own life.
What a piece, very well written.

Deeply moving read, I've been personally affected by suicide, lost my sister Lee to this horrific force. That's a real shame that the student took her life in desperation as such....your words were eloquent and quite affecting...
