Push and DigA Poem by Scott Leesweat
dig
sweat
burn
push
burn
hands
hurt
but don't care
keep going
push through pain
the only way to finish is to get mean
dig out dirt
dig out weeds
back fill trenches
level compost
blazing sun is my enemy
water my friend
I may choose to burn alive for you
just to get my rocks off
I may choose to bury myself just to see if I can claw back out
push and dig sweat and bleed
it feels great to be tortured like this
blood is dripping down my legs
still sore from ripping up a dead shrub to shreds
outside of oak tree bar when the ducks lost to LSU
f**k s**t d****t
I''m still pissed about that damn game
I just pulled out a splinter (6 days later) out of my left hand from that ape s**t moment
let me burn
let me bleed
let me get buried
f**k it
blood dripping down pages
to a story I'm thinking about writing
but I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around your redwood trunk
the only way to finish is to get mean
push and dig
all your life
trust and give
your heart inside
only if it's safe,
been there before when it wasn't
never again, will I will I Will I
give treasures to someone who vomits black vile in my face
I could do that to myself whenever I feel like
all I have to do is press Play from the Past and watch my own DVD
push and dig
bleed and sweat
curse and hit
the only way to finish is to get mean
f**k it
I'm on my own.
