Light-Years

Light-Years

A Poem by Scott Lee

You seemed to vanish into light-years

  right before my eyes

showed the world how you felt

made a statement with my tears

vicious determination

and haunting whispers to my ears

I never knew it would be like this

you never held the world in high regard

decimated and alone

 I turned around too late

and you vanished without a trace

you dug the needle in your veins

and burned me in the ground

why do thoughts of you bombard me every haunting day

why does unrest remain coffin tight

wish I could rush into light-years

 to spend a little time

vanish without a trace

leave the dark world far behind

pour my heart out like a river

and

cross the vanished bridge of

reason

sense

and

rhyme

   I'm dying  in this shadow

 I'm nailed to tortured cross

I feel the lightning reaching closer

I hold the storm with no release

midnights seem so lonely when I'm talking to you friend

when sleep has abandoned me

when I can't accept the end

you vanished into light-years  now you hoover above my dreams

I can't hear the ticks of time

I can't see between the lines when there's no books for me to read

the crossroads appear so empty

  the sun so far away

but I hold you in my heart old friend

  with a undying fire

                     forever to remain......
