When I Stare Into The Night

When I Stare Into The Night

A Poem by Scott Lee

Sometimes,

when I stare into the night
on a quiet piece of turf
as my restless mind will turn
when the branches of the trees
 seem to understand
as they shake and wave before my eyes

I start to feel it Rise....

Sometimes,

when I stare into the night
 uncertain of my road
when the biting, jagged jaws have loosened
and I soak in the quiet cool
after long days of hostile, fuming noons

I start to feel it Rise.

Sometimes,

when I stare into the night
after the clash of swords and stones
when the blood that breathes gets heavy
and my King struggles to reach his throne

I start to feel it Rise...

Sometimes,

when I stare into the night
 long shadows old and wide
 they begin to lengthen
to try and conquer minds,

little do they know of the secret I hold inside.

When defeat drags me through the waste lands
and the threat of life is High

I start to feel it Rise....

Sometimes,

when I stare into the night
after all the snagging, snubbing scorn is gone
when the hounds of hell have silenced
and the demons cease their song
I crawl into the quiet
to listen for my dawn
and

I start to feel it Rise....

It blooms above the darkness

It burns away the bruises
It smooths my ragged stones
It lifts me out of prison
and softly calls me Home.

I often think of its Deliverance
and what kind spirit it does have
to compare this love to sizes
but there isn't one that is has.

It encompasses all of life
and gently helps me rise
back to Lotus-land.

When I stare into your eyes
and the small hours intensify
when the clash of swords and stones have ended
and my King has finally reached His Throne

I slip into a peaceful sleep you see
 not knowing where I'll roam.

If now and then we encounter pages that explode, pages that wound, sears, tears, groans, and curses, know they came from a man with his back up, a man whose only defenses left are his words, and his w.. more..
