Shapeless

Shapeless

A Poem by Scott Lee

Incinerated wings

       and my failure to communicate

  my impounded imposition.

No safe return from a shapeless night like this.

Who could learn to cut through this callous vision?

To help renovate the impossible.

To climb beyond all treacherous clatter

and end up by a harmonious brook,

 immune and debtless.

I have pried open restless eyes with imagination.

I saw your hungry sprinting aches become impetus,

 snarling like a cornered wolf

facing something shapeless.

Your only impulse: to claw, fight, and win and vanish back into the wild.

I see your spirit run,

 free, formidable,

shapeless as night winds over a fresh frontier playing frisky games with leaves and petals.

no one left to stop your enticing restless disposition.

no safe return required. avid believer of the bellicose bellows.

I find your lethal freedom magnetic.

Shapeless as my hungry sprinting aches flying on phantom wings

trying to climb beyond their treacherous and meaningless clatter.
