burn you up

burn you up

A Poem by Scott Lee

she'll burn you up

   her red hair firing

       rockets into space

  she'll burn you up

   with that smile and laugh

       close your eyes

to doors swinging

         at the edge

to a place

You can't reach.....

where gigantic gladiators protect her heart from loss,

protect her Classified Files from breach.

    she'll burn you up

green eyes fluent in the forsaken and forlorn language

 of

flapping        and     flogged wings

 catch wind now

and

leave

or

   be fodder

for grunting beasts.

she'll burn you up

with a tenderness softer than baby skin

  close your eyes

    but you'll never forget

   her blaze,

as it strives triumphantly through your heart and brain

   leaves your Cold Mountain

          black and desolate

leaves your face stranded to howling winds

remembering vividly her grove    that

gave you protection from brutal rain

close your eyes

but you can't escape

her ways

which hike and side winds through  your trail of day dreams

to the gem in her heart

that you may never reach again.......
