It's a Drug

It's a Drug

A Poem by Sbchristie
"

I was asked about fame once, and this was my answer.

"

All you wanted. Was your name in lights.
All you could feel at the time, was your
pulse in your mind.
Deliberately pounding on the tissue lined
walls of your cerebrum.
You know the part of the brain, your memories hail from?

Filtered into an emotional stream.
All you want to do is get lost in your dreams.
Of the day you see your name up in lights, or photoshopped
picture of you on a billboard, or a sign.

The thirst to be noticed, known by every
soul and inhabit as many senses is undeniably a drug.
One that gets it’s start from many kisses and hugs.
Hand shakes and contacts, that can’t break or
be broken.

But it’s okay, as long as your name is the word
that is spoken. Seeping from Serpents and Angels alike.
You're desired by both ends of the spectrum.
The dark and the light.

All you wanted was your Name in in the sky.
Here you sand, for ever under a light, Magnified
by the glass of a thousand tiny eyes.
As you burn, as you begin to melt into nothing.

All you are wishing for is a little bit of Darkness.
Life away from your fame, and a little privacy.
