Butterfly of Delights

Butterfly of Delights

A Poem by Sazaku
"

Those eyes are beyond my skill to resist. Lips I'd regret my whole life to not have kissed.

"
Heaving darkness mixed with sappy tunes,
poorly lit by lanterns and languid moon.
A somber stage for dreary malcontents
to piss away their last remaining cents.

The lights go out and the music fades.
This torrid little vixen strolls in. The room surveyed,
right this way she slinks with practiced audacity
and yet passes without so much as a glance at me!

The table afar is her eventual destination
I turn away and ignore my building humiliation.
Never much cared for this place anyway.
I'd up and leave for good if my tab was repaid.

From my vision's edge I catch your lingering gaze
and for a moment longer my hopes dare to raise.
That table afar doesn't quite suit your liking,
before you've even sat down, you're moving.

God, those eyes are beyond my skill to resist.
Lips I'd regret my whole life to not have kissed.
Dangerous curves ensnared in quivering lace,
deafening aroma beckoning for sinful embrace.

It's all too much, my scandalous butterfly of delights
every lithe movement sparks urges within me I can't fight.
Even now as I sit here, nursing my stale, liquid courage,
my resistance falters further with every salacious image.

The thought of my hands brushing over your hips,
supple flesh quivering beneath my fingertips.
Dare you venture into the lion's den,
this seedy saloon may never see you again.

Alas, but I fear I am too late
For it seems not only I desire to be your mate.
No sooner had you settled into that quiet booth
like strays at your heel came the shaggy and uncouth.

Fed up, I leave my paltry coins upon the bar
and slip my way out beneath the stars.
At least out here I can be free
to sulk and seethe beside the sea.

Barely a minute before a hand grabs my shoulder,
and I swear the air has never felt colder.
Steeled resolve, I tilt my head
and there I find the gaze I fled.

"Did you think you could so easily escape?"
She says with a grin that left my jaw agape.
"Surely you realized, the moment I walked in,
that you'd been trapped within the webs I spin."

Until this point, I hadn't noticed
how foolish I'd been to simply trust in
these eyes of mine that'd detected prey,
when all along I'd been the game to play.

Wordless, I'm led to a home I now belong,
while she hums the melody to some lilting song.
To this day, I'm not sure what shocks me more
that I'd lost that battle all along...

Or that, my love, I won the war.

I'm not certain what audience/rating to set this as, so I left it in the middle. I'll change it if/when someone that knows better than me lets me know.
