Magic Fortress

Magic Fortress

A Poem by Jinx's Heart

I want to remain hidden from dangers that skulk

But I wish for my thoughts to be known.

I don’t feel safe. I am timorous of that scary hulk

Who towers fourteen inches my crown.

Longing for a magic fort of blankets and pillows

Whom no one can crumple or disintegrate

With words of kindness woven in the large throws

And the cold harshness, outside, cannot penetrate.

The yelling and madness remains in the battlefield

Of anger, frustration, resentment, even abhorrence

While I hide here hoping he who I’ve come to yield

Will some day rescue me once again, from this fortress.

Until then, my Magic Pillow Fortress shelters me

During difficult eras

And pray that I will survive long enough to see

He, who I truly love.
