My Generation (Days Of Change)A Poem by Savannah BlyHow I see my generation as it grows and learns. My Generation (Days Of Change) Teens have changed In a way that makes everyone who once was The same Why must I say this? Just look around at your peers Sleeping tired, or actually awake are
they? No sleep, stay on facebook ‘til 2
a.m. What are their plans? Saying “I…must …have…social…life…can’t
live…without…him…” What a mean breed are we To create violence, To wish everyday to be a modern fairy-tale, To be full of jealousy and hatred, Eyes focused on a screen As we watch our celebrity TV candy, While procrastinating homework. Stereotyping everything and everyone ‘Til the world sees groups without
individuals Everyone wants to be popular Talking about clubbing and long
weekends And killing our brain cells Laughing, joking ‘til the climax ‘Til we’re alone and don’t know how To survive life’s great What do we do? Raise a new generation to be like us Is this how it is going to be? Really? Do we care? The world is dying Yet we spend every waking minute Stuck in a childhood state Sure it helps us relax, think of
imagination We need to get our head in gear Stop letting language And entertainment of all kinds
control us Inspire, learn from and create maybe Why is it all about us? We are so mean Everything is falling apart Some of us have already gotten a clue But as a whole we are all blind to
earth, not the world, but EARTH! Sighing the day through as though
life is boring The world needs balance We always say “when am I going to use
this?” Life is no longer simple We are needed to be the next
educators And leaders We will figure it out someday We have good qualities We see things differently- good Maybe I am just hallucinating Maybe we all are Am I making a big fuss? Is all this nonsense? My brain hurts My mind fills with questions Is this how it is to be a teenager? Are we eager to change everything
around us, Trying to make it better? In so doing we make everything
complex As the generations get more creative We will create more jobs with our
imagination Rather than our knowledge No one really knows what will happen
after we all die Will our posterity learn from us? What will happen to us? But in the end we all see the same
fate We don’t know the future We overrate and exaggerate everything Is that what I’m doing? Maybe we have reached the days of
change In the end we will all die So live, laugh, love, but also learn In the end that is what we figure out Our ancestors probably can relate
themselves to us Even the generation before us Our world is increasing We are overpowering We are the next generation Of the next Days of Change There I think I've solved it 3 hours of sleep deprivation later This is what teenagers are The next generation of creativity The next days of change We are the world’s next big soap
opera- There is enough sex and language, And enough revenge, money and drama To go around anyways
