An October MornA Poem by Savannah BlyIt is about Robert Wood's painting 'October Morn'An 'October Morn' O, Robert Wood-your paintings are so beautiful. Your vivid paintings and strokes bring out a scene On your entire landscape Your ‘October Morn’ is
one of my favorites The small glistening pond holds the red, yellow and brown Crumpled and dried leaves that have fallen from the trees. And the trees are so vivid and alive! October is our family month- There is so much emphasis on Halloween and my parent’s anniversary O, sweet October, your smell reaches my nose whenever I think of you, The seasons come and go with light and darkness October, I morn that I don’t get
to have you for as long as I want, back in Washington State we only had two
seasons really, spring and fall. October was one month full of memories yet I had your smell for half the year That is why I morn October. I used to have great evergreen trees, warm rainy weather that makes you smile, and crumpled leaves everywhere at all times. 'October Morn' Your vivid strokes and textures of paint give way to the images of colored bushes and crumpled leaves on a glistening pond. I keep you and Robert Wood with me, I keep a little piece of my last homes with me of where I laid my head I love you, your memories, and your vivid images that leap into a scene Across the landscape and puts it in my view every time I think. © 2014 Savannah Bly |
