We Can't Be Banned

We Can't Be Banned

A Poem by Savannah Bly
"

Books are important and should not and cannot be banned.

"

We Can’t Be Banned

Why?

I am just a group of words

Why?

Because I let you imagine

Because I bring out

Something you wish you had

Because I am real

And full of explicit information

Because I tell what really

Happened that day

The world is not a fairy tale

The wars happened

Anne frank died

America once had slaves

They happened

Get over it

I bring

Imaginations to life

And I speak

Truth to power

You may hate it

But, I am honest

Don’t try to ban me

If you aren't prepared

For any of this

Then don’t read me

Read the books with pictures

And deny everything

Don’t force choices on others

Censor your eyes and your ears

Censor your mouth even

But don’t go

Censoring the world

I may never enter

Certain schools

Or homes

But I can’t ever

Really be banned

Once published

And once sold

A book can never

Ever, truly be banned

We are always there

We are everywhere

We represent and show

Everything in this world

We can’t be banned
