A Moment

A Moment

A Poem by Savegra

Quiet..
Can't you see,
I'm silent..
For a moment I am trapped,
Everything for me has stopped.

I am looking at the ceiling,
Empty mind and darkling feeling
Endless days of useless tries
Heavy mornings, sleepless nights..

Lack of hope and lack of trust
Fighting with a giant lust,
Life desired, life obtained
Doubts, obstacles, fears gained

I am searching for a glue,
To destroy that constant blue,
To disrupt the chains of mantrap
And resolve the puzzle clue..

The last verse reminds me of Walt Whitman's final lines in "A Noiseless Patient Spider"..."Till the bridge you will need be form'd, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling CATCH somewhere, O my soul"...until the glue holds fast to something...yes. We all need something to hold onto...I believe in holding onto something more sturdy than myself...no man in a tree ever held on to his own arm for safety. Gravity has a way of pulling us down. We must anchor our lifelines to something sturdy and secure. And there are many searching for such an anchor.

From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow;.. more..
