in the club

in the club

A Poem by Savannah Giovanna

I was dancing, drunk and free

But then a song struck a chord

And on came the wave of memory

Cutting deeper than a sword

Your face swarmed in my mind

Closing my eyes, I prayed for peace

Something I am yet to find

But the thoughts were unable to cease

I pushed back the tears

Letting the beat consume me

Trying to ignore the pain and fears

The feelings that others can’t see

So I looked around at the bodies

Wishing one of them was you

I guess I’ll keep going to parties

Until I know you miss me too.
