SANCTUARY

SANCTUARY

A Poem by Dark Priestess
"

Like the crab, my Cancer sign..... I cocoon myself away at times.....

"

Alone within my sanctuary I sleep

Evading the reality

that is a stranger

To me

Alienated from this world and its people

Cocooned within the dreamscape that

Embraces me

I wish that I could sleep forever

In a coma of immortality

Unknowing, unaware and dead

To the harsh complexity of the world

And all its shattered dreams and false illusions

Where nothing is as it should be

And nothing could be as it is

Safe within my sanctuary

I can exist

Overwhelmed with the wave of solitude

That too often oppresses me

Surrounded with dreams and fantasies

That wrap me in their intricate embrace

And cover me in silken webs

Never to let go.

I esp like verses 1 and 2, the feeling of total bafflement at the world. I esp like 'Evading the reality that is a stranger to me' and 'unknowing, unaware and dead to the harsh complexity of the world'. The alienation of a sensitive spirit to the brutality of the world captured artfully.
