DETACHED

DETACHED

A Poem by Dark Priestess
"

Escape from reality

"

Detached from reality

I float

Aboard a raft on the sea of life

Wishing

That I were on another planet

In another world

In another life

That is not as cruel as this one is

Nor as hash

Nor as complex

Conjuring fantasies

Of what could have been

If I were someone else

Somewhere else

Dreaming of peace and happiness

And freedom

In a world in which

There is no pain nor sorrow nor grief

But only sweet, sweet joy

As hard as I try

Escape does not come

In the steady beat of the music

Pounding in my head

Nor in the worlds of fiction

That I submerge myself in

Or the fantasies on the screen

Deep within I still yearn

For something so elusive

It breaks my heart to know

That it is not there

I wish I were invisible

Camouflaged within my own world

Protected from the vicious stare

Of the outsiders

Floating forever

Away from this reality

Into a world

Where there is only

Sweet, sweet peace

Acute yearning for calm and peace from the harsh reality of the world. Many will understand exactly the mood you capture here.

Yes, at the time that was exactly the mood.
