DYING WORLD

DYING WORLD

A Poem by Dark Priestess
"

Disillusion

"

Empty, harsh unforgiving light

Bathes me in its stark glare

Stranded here in the realm of the dead

Where everything is, but is not

Where I am, but never will be

All around me the world is dying

And I am not sure if I am, or soon will be

No-one cares if they live or die because

Life is death and death is peace

Sanctuary is no more

In the land of the living

There is no hope for a new fate

We are trapped in our sins

And are dead

I felt I was in London during the plague of 1665 when I read this. The hopelessness in the last two lines is poignant.
