THE CHILDRENA Poem by Dark PriestessMy thoughts after visiting a home for abused children..............With
wide-open eyes They
stare into the night Afraid
to sleep Afraid
to dream Afraid
to remember The
red blossoms exploding in the streets Around
them Raw
violence of humanity
Witness
to things They
should have never seen Or
heard Their
innocence corrupted Their
faith lost In
an ocean of endless despair Their
lives smothered Never
to be the same
All
around the fires rage Torching
human souls Burning
mortal hope This
life is but a prison That
traps us in mindless violence And
rotten corruption Seeps
into their souls Creating
pain for all eternity…….. © 2017 Dark Priestess |
