PROMISES

PROMISES

A Poem by Dark Priestess
"

This was written after someone I considered a friend betrayed me....

"

Empty promises

Hang heavy and stark

In the dead air

Like birds with a broken wing

Unable to fulfill their true purpose

In life

Words without value

Are like flowers without beauty

Promises unfulfilled

Like a river without water

A diamond without worth

A fire without heat

Life is deprived of trust

Transformed into a playground

Of broken dreams and shattered hopes

Where everything promised

Is nothing gained

Where human value is not cherished

By those who should care

The truth is an illusion

Priorities are scattered

Like faded leaves on the ground

Forgotten, crushed and blown away

meaningless words echo

against vacant walls

destroying

the power of real truth

the beauty of honesty

and the value of priority

our human souls lie twisted

with corruption

in a world of hope

that lies shattered and broken

in the dust of our humanity
