Treasure of Lovelost CoveA Poem by Katie LynnLife's greatest treasure. The wooden ship crept on the waves, Over the rolling tide, Its bow was strong, its hull held firm, As it rocked from side to side.
“Thar’ she be!” the captain cried, At the sight of Lovelost Cove, “I’ve sought you a many a year! I’ve found you, Treasure Trove!”
He brought the ship into the mouth, And laid his anchor there, Then heard the melancholy song, Drift through the briny air.
“Where is my jolly pirate man, Who travels this fair sea, The one who wants to take my hand, In his on bended knee?”
He paused a moment to hear her song, A sullen, somber tune, He almost felt as it he had, Received a gracious boon.
“I wish to feel his tender warmth, Upon my skin so cold, I wish for him to boldly take, My heart of living gold.”
He strode his way along the beach, To find the voice’s source, Searching with every step he took, He slowly made his course.
“I want my jolly pirate man, The one who calls for me, To come and take me far away, I wish now, to be free!”
And there she was, so suddenly, Lain on the rocky shore, A treasure unlike any other, A tale of ancient lore!
He looked into her aqua eyes, And touched her gentle face, He wiped away her silent tears, Leaving not a trace.
“I’ve come for you, my sweet mermaid, For years, I have been told, A beauty like you could never be found, I want your heart of gold!”
He took her later as his wife, He stole her from that cove, Still today no one has matched, Their legendary love! © 2016 Katie LynnAuthor's Note
