A Ring of Empty Promise

The shadows creep within the room,
It lies there in the dark,
She steps into the silence there,
In which she does remark,

“Hello, my love, I miss you so,
I wish you missed me too,
All that’s left is this gold ring,
But still, do I love you,

I wish you were beside me still,
To hold me close, my dear,
This ring means nothing to me now,
But still I want you here.

I know you cannot answer me,
You’re just a band of gold,
Many memories of our past,
Are ones we could not hold.

Our past is long forgotten,
A pledge you did not keep,
Abandoned by your careless heart,
You left me here to weep!”

The circle never answers her,
It lies there night and day,
It represents a love long lost,
But still you hear her say…

How sad that we all have to brood on lost love in this life. But we do, and we do it in various ways, whether it's hanging on to that old wedding ring, or sitting alone in that Cafe we used to frequent together. I like this, and the hanging ending which prompts us to return to what she said, once again. The only constructive crit I could offer is a comma after 'But still(,) do I love you', and
Many memories of our past
(Are) ones we could not hold.
